OBX: III

DSC_6214
I was so happy the weather cleared up for our third day of vacation. The storm from the day before even left over a nice little breeze and a couple clouds which are definitely more than welcome on a hot beach day. I ended up mixing a new swimsuit piece with an old one, this one shoulder top is a couple years old and I honestly cannot remember where I picked it up. I even cut all of the tags out so there's no way I could even re-trace my steps. I actually picked up these bottoms in three different colors / prints because I love the cut so much.

OBX: II

DSC_6141

The second day of vacation definitely wasn't as beautiful as the first weather wise, but it did give us an opportunity to explore the area a little bit. There were an abundance of standard surf shops that I didn't really need anything from, I was just waiting to hit the boutiques. Luckily, we found one right around the corner from our house which had tons of cute clothes, mostly Free People and lots of jewelry. I always try to scope out all of the stores before making any purchases because some carry nicer things than others so I will definitely be making a second trip toward the end of the week.

Birchbox Review pt. I

DSC_5907

For quite some time I've been seeing Birchbox reviews pop up, some were good, some were .. not so good. So, a few weeks before my birthday my boyfriend's sister Laurie got her's in the mail and I got to see first hand what actually came in one as well as a trusted opinion about the products. After looking through, I was pleasantly surprised with the size of all of the samples as well as the quality. A few weeks later, Laurie and her husband surprised me with a subscription for my birthday (thanks again, guys!!) and I was beyond excited to receive my first one.  So rather than keeping all of the fun to myself, I decided to share a little bit about each product with you guys and my own personal review.

Another Black Jumpsuit

DSC_5843

There is nothing easier than throwing on a jumpsuit to run errands, especially when its all black. It did come with a belt that was the same material but I took it off and replaced it with my favorite gold chain belt to dress it up a little bit. Since I kind of over did it with leopard and spikes and a big floppy hat.. I just put on my D&G chain bracelet to tone it down. I must have worn this jumpsuit ten times since I picked it up, so I guess it was worth every penny! Speaking of, I did find this gem for a little more than 50% off. Even though we're right in the middle of the summer season- you'll start to notice  that stores are putting out their fall clothing already. Even though it is a bit overwhelming to see fall clothes so soon (and it's definitely overwhelming to be the person putting out those clothes) .. now is when you'll find great summer pieces on sale for even better prices. Since it is only July- you won't have to worry about packing your findings up for the next year, there's still more than enough time to wear them!

PMPN 8 EZ pt. II

DSC_5874

I was able to get my hands on this over sized jersey over the winter,  I put up a post of how I paired it with white skinnies and pumps months ago HERE.  I've worn it with quite a few different bottoms: leggings, thigh highs, tights, jeans, etc but this was the first time I wore it.. pant-less. Luckily my 5ft self is able to wear things that are intended to be shirts as dresses so I'm able to get a lot of use out of them.  It honestly felt kind of weird to walk around in an oversized shirt and no pants! Definitely got a few strange looks, but at least I left a lasting impression, right? Since the sleeves are cut more narrow I didn't have to worry about anything coming out the bottom if I raised my arms up. I paired it with my favorite lace up wedges I got two summers ago that I've worn in plenty of previous posts and will probably see in many more to come. I refuse to get rid of them until I find an exact replacement or they completely fall apart, I never thought I would be so attached to a pair of shoes.

Little Black Leotard

DSC_5873

I always find myself buying pieces for events, wearing them for said events and then forgetting about them for months at a time. American Apparel bodysuits have always been my favorite bodysuits (even though they don't have the snaps at the bottom)- I remember about three or four years ago when I wore one with a low scooped back for the first time to work.. I felt so risk-ay, now they're so common and normal.  This one specifically I picked up for New Years Eve because I had absolutely no idea what my plans were until I even got to the destination, I think I wore it with a skirt and was a little over dressed.. as usual. Months later: I put it on with my favorite high waisted jeans and had a great outfit for an usually cool summer day.  There is absolutely no chance you could get away with wearing a bra with any of their low back bodysuits, so sticky-cups are always the way to go if you need an extra layer at all.

Gypsy Dress & Platforms

DSC_5832
I was on an extensive hunt for a pair of platforms with a wooden looking heel for a few months before I found these beauties. For me, Steve Madden shoes always need to be broken in before I can wear them anywhere serious but these were an exception. I will say that the bottoms are really hard, like I assume most faux-wooden platforms would be.. so I put in those little cushions that shoe stores always try to add-on to your purchase. They do actually come in handy, who knew?

Black, White & Gaudy

DSC_5858
It's no secret that I'm obsessed with big, chunky and what most people would call gaudy necklaces, so when I found this one in the mall for only $15 I nearly had a heart attack. This one specifically can change the look of any outfit, especially this plain black cotton dress. I was pleasantly surprised with the accessory department in Windsor- they really stepped up their game this season! Unfortunately a lot of their styles are sold out in stores but they're still available online so I linked this one below for you..
