So, this particular night my boyfriend and I were guest listed to see Real Friends and Pentimento in Long Branch. Since I don't typically listen to either of them I wanted to see what they were all about and what better way to do that than watching them live? Both were incredible and definitely exceeded my expectations, if you haven't already you should check them both out!

Winter Headwrap
As much as I love living in a state where I get to experience all four seasons, I could definitely live without the cold weather.. and the extremely hot weather. I hate being hot as much as I hate being cold. My ankle aches, my knee tenses up, my steering wheel is too cold to touch for about five minutes unless I use my remote start, I have to wake up when it's still dark out, etc. Anything below 60 is entirely too cold for my bones, especially with a wind chill. The only, and I repeat only thing I enjoy about the weather is being able to layer and buying new jackets. Rather than saying I live the life of a compulsive shopper, I prefer collector. Sounds like I have a lot less of a problem than I really do. One of my most extensive collections is my jacket collection which has its own closet on the second floor of my room, which has started to travel down the stair case which has also traveled to my sister's room since she's away at school. I bought this particular jacket for the fall because it wasn't too heavy or too light, but, now that we have apparently skipped the fall weather I wish it were a bit heavier.
I don't know if this winter head headwrap was completely necessary but it was 58 degrees and like I said anything under 60 is entirely too cold for me. I didn't want to flatten my hair with a hat since I had to go out that night but I also wanted to stay warm to run a few errands, luckily I stumbled across this gem. I bought it and a couple others like it a few years ago and haven't gotten around to wearing any of them.. one of my worst habits. So, if you ever want to stead clear of the ever so dreaded hat hair.. definitely worth investing in one of these for the season.
I just realized I have yet to feature my bag in any of my posts! This is my every day bag also known as the mother ship. I keep everything in here including a miniature flat iron, a pill for just about any ailment I may ever have, my main wallet, hair spray etc. Whenever I go out I take the essentials for that specific event and put them into one of my smaller bags. This bag comes with me to work every day but is far too heavy for me to carry around shopping or to a show. I don't switch out my main bag on an outfit to outfit basis like my smaller ones because it would take up entirely too much time. Since they're much bigger, they're also a lot more expensive which is why I tend to use them for so long and get newer ones less often.

Pleated Stripe Skirt
Don't you hate when you plan an outfit out in your head, go out and buy it and when you finally try it on are nothing but disappointed? That unfortunate series of events happened to me less than a week before I had to attend a dinner my sister's sorority was hosting to benefit heart disease. I purchased the most perfect black off the shoulder skater dress from Nasty Gal which sold out only hours after I ordered. I got it and let it sit in my room for a week before I tried it on figuring that I would have no problem since I am always the same size there. WRONG! The dress barely covered my bottom! I've never been too tall for anything in my life! Of course this lead to the a last minute scramble at the mall where I landed on this beauty in the middle of Forever 21. I've seen similar styles at BCBG, Nordstrom, etc for well over $100 so, of course It had to be mine.
Anyway, the moral of my story is to make sure you try on your online purchases as soon as you get them so you're not stuck with a $70 dress that doesn't fit and nothing to wear to an event that you knew about for well over a month. oops!

Amy Winehouse Halloween Tribute
I know it’s a little past due, but, there was no way I could skip out on a Halloween post. It’s been my favorite day of the year since I was old enough to understand the concept of being able to dress up as anything I wanted for an entire day, or maybe since I sprayed my hair black and was Sporty Spice in first grade, either way I still can’t get enough. I keep skeleton décor up in my room year round among other slightly creepy things and yes, I still request that my Mom decorate my entire house. Anyway, back in high school I did dress as Amy Winehouse for a small party but this year I wanted to re-create my look to be bigger and better than ever, and what better way to pay tribute to your favorite artist than to dress like them for a day? I loved every second of my time spent under the bee-hive wig and layers of winged eye-liner and everything I wore were pieces that I already had in my closet and do wear often to dress as myself (so yes, this is also an outfit post). I’ve seen so many pictures of what she’s worn and how her style evolved through her time in the spot light, so when I was looking through my closet I was thinking “What would Amy wear now?”. Since unfortunately she is no longer with us I wanted to honor her in the most current and up to date way possible rather than emphasizing on her addiction and her not so fabulous moments as others have. I truly believe she was, and still is, one of the most talented women in the music industry not only because of her voice, but that all of her lyrics were real, which unfortunately isn’t so common anymore.
