Modern Ego (10% off!)

Hello lovely ladies (and maybe some gentlemen), as you know I do a lot of my shopping online and almost everything I wear was purchased via the internet. Since I always link where each of my pieces are from as well as some of my favorite stores, I also wanted to share a brand new site that I have recently fallen in love with. Not only are the clothes on point for this spring and summer, they are very fairly priced, what more could a gal ask for? I know I've expressed plenty of times that I don't really like to buy clothes that are on the pricey side because I would rather be able to buy more items than just one expensive item (I do tend to splurge every now and then, though). I also believe that you can create an extremely fashionable outfit without having to spend close to $1,000 on designer items, so, to furthermore prove my point I bring to you, Modern Ego.

White Romper & Nude Pumps

DSC_0452

Here's a little more evidence that I actually did wear something other than black.  I tried really hard not to incorporate any sort of black into this outfit which was a struggle in the beginning, but once I put on my nude pumps, everything else sort of fell together. Surprisingly, I can't get enough of nudes and whites together, it's just hard for me to get used to wearing the combination myself.  These past two months I haven't had much luck in the mall but I was really impressed with Windsor, which is where I purchased most of my white pieces recently.

Sunflower Dress

DSC_0151

About a month or two ago I walked into Urban Outfitters, saw this dress and immediately fell in love with everything about it. Sunflowers have always reminded me of my Nana who is no longer around, so this dress found a special place in my heart very quickly. I passed it up because I didn't think spending an absurd amount of money on a sundress was necessary in the middle of the winter. Easter morning, as I was opening up my basket (yes I'm almost in my mid-twenties and I still get an Easter basket) my Mom had the dress folded up & patiently waiting to be worn.

Little White Dress

I'm still in shock that I bought not one, but several white dresses and playsuits at the mall this weekend. Not only did I purchase several white articles of clothing.. I actually already wore a few of them. I'm not sure that I would have took them home if they came in a black option, but that's besides the point. I've already expressed my love for gladiator sandals so this is another one of those pairs I mentioned I just had to have. These aren't as high as the lace up pair from my previous post, so they're definitely a bit more practical and a lot easier to put on. I didn't want to get ahead of myself with spring colors just yet so I grabbed my leopard envelope clutch which has tan to match my sandals and black to match my hat. I chose to accessorize with darker colors since it's still not all that warm out and because I'm not really used to wearing so much white.. but I do already have a few ideas as to how I want to wear it in the summer that I will be sure to share with you.

Black & White Co-ords

I've definitely expressed my love for pencil & midi skirts so there was no way I could pass up this coordinating set. Ever since I bought a floral set a few months ago I've been searching all over the internet for some more to stock up on for the spring and summer. I love having outfits picked out for me, especially when I'm in a rush, so I cannot get enough of these sets. I don't usually order clothes from GoJane so I was hesitant to place a large order, luckily this set along with everything else I ordered fit true to size so I will be sure to put them on the top of my list. Since my go-to eye shadows are usually lighter and darker browns, I chose to stray and go the grey & black route to avoid a clash of the neutrals. Of course, since the rest of my outfit was dark, I chose the darkest lip in my collection to pull it all together.

Little Black Jumpsuit

I've been waiting for the perfect opportunity to break out this jumpsuit and since we've been so lucky with this warm weather I was finally able to. Of course, I found this one and a few others at Tobi, which is my absolute favorite store for a list of reasons. Since I'm short and in between sizes it's usually a gamble for me to order online, but Tobi has yet to let me down in that department so I was not surprised that it fit me perfectly when I got it. I think I'm so obsessed with them because I only have to pick out one piece & accessorize so it definitely cuts down my "getting ready time"... which can sometimes drag on for a little too long. Once I took this jumpsuit out of my closet I knew exactly which accessories I wanted to pair it with so it took me a record breaking total of five minutes to get ready for my dinner. Naturally I have about ten other ways I want to wear it floating around in my head because it's such a simple piece that you can do so much with. Stay tuned for more!

Pencil Skirt & Plaid

Even though the forecast called for warmer weather for the next week or so, I didn't want to get ahead of myself and break out all of my new spring clothes. I decided I would try to stick to some of my older winter pieces and see how I could pair them together for a 70 degree day lunch date with some friends. I did break out my favorite lace up wedges that I picked up from Urban Outfitters two summers ago, they're still in perfect condition and I refuse to retire them until they fall apart. Since they're only about a 2" wedge.. they're extremely comfortable and easy to wear anywhere. The second I opened my closet this bodysuit was the first piece that I noticed and after I put it on, the rest of the outfit seemed to fall together effortlessly. Even though I did have to put on the flannel because 70 degrees wasn't as warm as I remember it being, I was content with wearing a pencil skirt with no tights and not freezing.

I guess if you haven't already noticed or seen any of my instagram posts, I did recently start a sleeve on the same side as the piece on the back of my shoulder. I only have a little bit more shading to go until it's finished and once it is, I'll take some close up pictures and answer all of the questions I've been getting about it in one post so you guys don't have to search all over my social networking platforms to find the answers.
Until then, here's my artist's page: @josephmichaeltattoo

Lace Ups & Lace

I have been waiting months to break out these lace up sandals and even though I only got to wear them for a few hours to a friend's house, I finally feel at peace. I fell in love with them at the mall one day and after about one full minute of deciding whether or not I really needed them in the middle of the winter, I decided that I did. Although they're a bit of pain to put on and lace up, they're extremely comfortable and definitely worth the extra effort. I already have a few other styles and colors on their way to me because I just can't get enough of them. I'm so happy that stores like Aldo, Call it Spring, Steve Madden and even Charlotte Russe hopped on this trend and made some really cute and affordable versions of designer brands so we don't have to break the bank to buy a pair for $150+. I definitely recommend doing a little research online before heading out to buy a pair because a lot of stores are having spring/summer preview sales that are online only and if you use ebates on top of that, you'll save yourself a good amount of money!

Faux Leather & Denim

I'm sure you've all noticed my infatuation with faux leather anything so when my Mom surprised me with this pencil skirt I just couldn't say no. I'm so used to putting on one of my black faux leather jackets to go out but the matching textures would have had me looking like a mix between cat woman and a business woman so I went with one of my other staple pieces.. the denim jacket. Since I was yet again in all black which is naturally no-so-casual looking,  the denim definitely helped to dress it down. I will say the only down fall of a faux leather skirt is the limited leg movement, would not be my choice of bottom if I were to have to walk up and down stairs all day.

Another Black Romper

Since I already did a casual outfit with the maroon hat I recently picked up from Forever 21, I wanted to show you all how I dressed it up a bit. Over the past month I must have purchased every version of the black romper ever made and this one is definitely my favorite because of all of the small details. If you didn't notice, it's extremely sheer and the back is almost non-existent so wearing it before the weather started to warm up was completely out of the question.

PS. The MK Haven booties are on sale now & I've linked them below for you!
