Neutrals

_DSC0428

I'm sure you've noticed that my hair looks a bit different here than it does in my last instagram post, but, I do like to keep things in chronological order so I just have a couple more until any posts with my newer hair-do.

As much as I do love to dress up for work, being comfortable is also important especially during the holidays (if you work retail, I'm sure you understand why) I came across this dress on boohoo and expected it to be a regular cotton shift dress and to my surprise it was so much more comfortable, I was definitely happy that I had another one on its way to my house. After waiting and waiting for Kat Von D's "Poe" lip color to be restocked, I was extremely excited that I was finally able to order it a few weeks ago. I did sort of struggle with what kind of color combinations to wear it with and after putting together this get-up, I knew that it was meant to be. The subtle hints of navy blue were just enough to add that extra bit of "umph" to very neutral outfit.

Houndstooth & Thigh Highs

_DSC0402

As I was in the middle of stocking up on comfy sweaters for the winter, I came across this houndstooth poncho and knew that at some point or another- I would get around to wearing it. Surprisingly, that time came the day after it arrived on my doorstep. I've always wondered just how warm they were, considering they don't exactly have sleeves.. just holes where sleeves would technically be. Of course, I chose to test mine out on one of the chilliest of thirty degree days. Turns out they are much warmer than I had expected!  I'm not exactly one to wear color so, I chose my faux-leather pants with my pointed toe thigh highs because 1. they're both black and 2. they're both warm, it was definitely a match made in heaven.

Cozy Knits

Every winter I find myself in the same dilemma: a closet full of beautiful clothes yet not a single sweater. This year, I decided to start my shopping early so I wouldn't run into the same situation and end up struggling to keep warm and fashionable. I have definitely mentioned how Aero has really turned their store around and how many cute pieces I've been finding so I decided to take a trip upstairs on one of my breaks to check out their new season's goodies. Of course, this gorgeous sweater was laying on the front table waiting for me to come in, I think it was love at first sight!

White & Fur

_DSC0310

This faux-fur vest has become my go-to since the weather has gotten cold, I must have worn it at least thirty times in the past month and a half. I first saw it on my friend Jordan and after I found out where she got it, I made a quick stop on my break and picked up one for myself. I've worn it to work quite a few times where customers have asked if I picked it up from Nordstrom and were surprised to find that it was from H&M. Don't you love when people mistake your inexpensive pieces for brand named pieces? Although I'm sure I wouldn't mind spending a bit more on it because of how often I've already worn it, the fact that it was less than $50 has made my small investment feel like a real gold mine.

Hunter Green & Platform Booties

_DSC0270

My new (well, not so new anymore) job has given me an excuse to break out some of the pieces I haven't gotten much use out of. I was definitely on the fence about purchasing this skirt over the summer, I loved it because of the color and the accordion style, but was hesitant because of the length. I ended up taking it home with me anyway because I figured I would find something to wear with it during the fall based on the color alone, and a few months later, here I am. I knew that I would want to wear it with a heel or platform so that it would fall on me where it would fall on someone taller and since my go-to shoe as of recently has become this platform bootie, it was a perfect match. As I'm sure you are all aware, black on black is my favorite combination which explains why the only color of this outfit is the hunter green of the skirt. I'm sure you've also noticed the change of scenery, my new backyard has a lot more fun places to shoot! If you know me personally, you know that I'm not much of an "exploring the wilderness" so you won't find me climbing through a hiking trail in my heels any time soon, although it would be quite comical!

Lazy Sunday

_DSC0288

There is nothing I love more than a great pair of boyfriend jeans, especially these. At first they definitely were not my favorite, but after breaking them in along with a couple of wash & dry cycles they are better than ever. I am a firm believer in letting denim air dry to preserve the color & fit so I was a bit hesitant to break my own rules, but the end result was much more successful than I had expected.
